My Journey

Hi, my name is Maya, as a NASM certified personal trainer and experience expert I wanted to create an approach to help you live your best life. My journey to creating this approach is deeply personal, marked by challenges that shaped my understanding of health and well-being.

​

Since my early teens, I've dealt with chronic pain and mental health issues. The bullying I endured and the feeling of not fitting in were the root cause of my mental health struggles. Traditional therapy provided some relief, but it was often too compartmentalized, failing to address the connection of my physical and emotional pain. This realization steered me to explore holistic well-being on my own terms.

Despite my love for being active, chronic pain limited my abilities. I rediscovered my passion through fitness, which became a tool for building resilience. Moving within my limits, I gradually expanded them, growing stronger both physically and mentally. This personal transformation inspired me to become a Personal Trainer and experience expert, dedicated to helping others find their path to well-being.

My journey with nutrition was not an easy one. I struggled with a negative body image and an eating disorder, which led to cycles of binging and guilt. The turning point came when I allowed myself to enjoy all foods without limitations. This mindset shift brought balance and freedom, emphasizing nourishment over restriction.

​

My battle with mental health, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and perfectionism, was a lengthy one. It took time and effort to see my true worth and to embrace being myself. I learned that by focusing on my mind and body in combination with exercise, I could create a harmonious balance in my life. Working out transformed from a chore driven by self-criticism to an act of self-love and empowerment.

The Maya Approach is the synergy between my experiences and learnings. It's an approach that recognizes the connection between mind, body, and nutrition. By addressing these elements together, I found that I could not only help myself but also inspire and support others in their journeys. My approach is about becoming the best version of yourself, embracing who you are, and finding balance in all aspects of life.

My journey is one of never-ending growth. By engaging with others, embracing new experiences, and continually learning, I've found that personal development is an ongoing process. This growth is reflected in the evolution of the Maya Approach, as it adapts and expands to encompass new insights and understandings.

​

If there's one thing I want to share through my story and the Maya Approach, is that it's possible to learn to trust yourself and your instincts. Each step in the journey of self-discovery and well-being is a step towards freedom – the freedom to be authentically you, to embrace life's challenges, and to thrive in your unique way.
